About Me

Hello, my name is John Croom III. I am a Physics and Math Teacher. I grew up in Daleville, Pennsylvania and graduated from North Pocono High School. I then went on to the University of Scranton where I graduate with a bachelors of science degree in physics-secondary education in 2003. I continued my education and earned a Masters Degree from Wilkes University in Classroom Technology in 2005. I then completed a second Masters in Educational Leadership in 2007. In 2013 I earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Technology from Wilkes University. My research is on curriculum design focusing on technology integration for the improvement of instruction in the physics classroom. I hold an instructional II certificates from Pennsylvania in both Physics and 7-12 math. I also hold a Pennsylvania certificates in K-12 administration and for being an Instructional Technology Specialist.  My previous professional work experiences have been diverse. Since 2003 I have taught at three other local school districts, Mountain View, Wallenpaupack, and Pocono Mountain.  In these districts I taught multiple courses in 7th grade math, pre-algebra, algebra I, geometry, applied geometry, algebra II,  consumer I mathematics, Advanced Placement Calculus, 9th grade environmental science, contemporary science, applied physics, academic physics, accelerated (honors) physics, and Advanced Placement physics. From 2004 to 2021 I was employed various semesters as a physics instructor at Marywood University and an adjunct physics instructor at the University of Scranton. I returned to North Pocono in 2010 where I now teach academic, accelerated, and Advanced Placement Physics as well as Engineering.
During the 2004 and 2005 I also work for Northeast Intermediate Unit teaching the classroom plus program in 8th and 9th grade math. I have also was employed part time from 2008 through 2013 with IU19 teaching math and physics for the VLINC program. During the summer of 2004 I wrote the physics and the 7th grade science curriculum for Mountain View School District. I was also involved with various grant writing activities.
 
At Wallenpaupack I was involved with the SAT prep course, after school math tutoring, Science Olympiad, PSSA remediation, the career, education, & work task force, and the athletic weight training program. At Pocono Mountain I was involved with after school science tutoring, summer school, Science Olympiad, and was the East High School webmaster.
 
At North Pocono I have served as Science Department Chairperson, assistant coach to the Science Olympiad Team, International Bridge Building coach, Kane Competition coach, Real World Design Challenge coach, Wilkes Engineering competition coach, and an individual mentor for Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. I have also chaperoned for the band and music department events and run field trips to physics day at regional amusement parks.
 
When I am not at school I enjoy spending time hiking, camping, traveling, and skiing. I also enjoy programming computers. My wife, who I meet in 2000, and I were married in July of 2007. Her name is Lindsay and she is also employed as a Chemistry teacher at North Pocono. We have two son, John IV and James. I spend most of my time volunteering as an adviser to the local Order of the Arrow Lodge where I am adviser to the ordeal committee. I am also the council Vice President of Program and the Council Training Chair for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
